Inseco & Pall Medical sign an exclusive representation agreement for the marketing and commercialization of Pall Aquasafe™ filters for Waterborne Microorganisms
Inseco is pleased to announce that it signed an exclusive representation agreement with Pall Medical, a division of Pall Corporation – a global leader in the high-tech filtration, separation, and purification industry for customers across the broad spectrum of life sciences and industry – for the sales and distribution of Pall-Aquasafe™ Filters for Waterborne Microorganisms in the territory of Puerto Rico – particularly Hospitals and Healthcare Clinics, among other areas that provide or use water for human consumption.
Drinking water, in many developed countries, has stringently controlled standards. Therefore, it is hard to imagine that water for human use delivered through taps, shower heads and other sources within buildings could contain harmful pathogens. However, water distribution systems are increasingly recognized as a source of infection, particularly in areas with immunocompromised patients.
The main causes for bacterial growth in water systems within buildings are water stagnation, inappropriate water temperatures, and dead ends. These factors, plus the presence of particles and nutrients, contribute to the rapid formation of biofilm. Biofilm is extremely difficult to eradicate once established. Bacteria are released from the biofilm into the water stream, and reach users when taps or showers are opened. People with weakened immune defenses are particularly at risk.
Pall-Aquasafe Water Filters provide filtered water for topical use and patient consumption for up to 31 day use with its double layer sterilizing grade Supor® membrane rated and validated at 0.2μm providing protection against waterborne particulates and pathogens such as Legionella spp., and Pseudomonas spp.
Inseco is actively promoting these products within the Puerto Rico Hospitals, and Healthcare Clinics and will also be exhibiting at booth 92 in the upcoming Puerto Rico Hospitals Association in October 8-11, 2014.
